Detailed description of the game:

   Vegas Bandit is an old simulator of 3-reels slot machine, which was published in 1994 by American company The Fifth Suit. Goal of the game was very simple: win as much money as possible and place yourself in the ranking list of the best players at the highest position.
   The game was controlled either by mouse or by keyboard, and except for simple spinning of the reels, simulator allowed to change the color settings, select a different value of coins, which are dropping into the machine, turn on or off the sound and display the ranking list of the best players. Nothing more and nothing less. At the beginning of the game you have to enter your name and then choose the value of stake. After that you can spin the reels by mouse or by pressing Enter. Each round had a choice whether to bet one, two or three coins, whose value was either one or five dollars depending on the game setup. Depending on what symbols stopped on the front panel, you could win up to $ 5,000 in one game. The game was obviously set to 'give' a lot more than the real machines in real casinos, so it was almost impossible to lose. Nevertheless, if you run out of coins, a new game can be started with a new hundred-dollar bonus.
   Vegas Bandit is merely a computer simulation of a slot machine. The history of real machines dating back to the 19th century and playing on these machines still belongs to the most popular gambling entertainment. In the United States, total profits from slot machines represent about 70 % of the average casino's income. The oldest gambling machine of the present type was created in 1891 in Brooklyn, New York, USA. It contained five drums, each with 10 card faces. Players would insert a nickel and pull a lever, which would spin the drums and the cards they held, the player hoping for a good poker hand. In case of success, the player could win beer, a pack of cigarettes or a shot of hard liquor. This machine proved extremely popular and soon many bars in the city had at least one.
   Since then, slot machines have undergone a long evolution. Shortly, the most common number of drums was reduced from five to three, as well as a number of symbols on each reel. In the eighties of the 20th century, transition from a purely mechanical machines to electronic, enabled a better control of drums rotation and therefore increase the value of potential jackpots up to a million dollars from $1 bet. The boom of Internet and computer networks enabled to connect the group of gaming machines together and thus attract more players on much higher progressive jackpots. In modern slot machines, rotating drums are usually only a digital fiction and if they are really presented, It is only from a historical reasons. Playing on the latest slot machines is more reminiscent of playing modern video games with a lot of bonus rounds and perfect graphics.
   Even then, many players still prefer the old mechanical or electromechanical three- or five-reel slot machines. Doesn’t matter if they do it because of nostalgia, or they believe that classical machines can bring them more wins. Modern times make everything easier for them. This ver­sion of Vegas Bandit was de­sig­ned for per­so­nal com­pu­ters with o­pe­ra­ting sys­tem MS-DOS (Mi­cro­soft Disk O­pe­ra­ting Sys­tem), which was o­pe­ra­ting sys­tem de­ve­lo­ped by Mi­cro­soft in 1981. It was the most wi­de­ly-used o­pe­ra­ting sys­tem in the first half of the 1990s. MS-DOS was sup­plied with most of the IBM com­pu­ters that pur­cha­sed a li­cen­se from Mi­cro­soft. Af­ter 1995, it was pu­s­hed out by a gra­phi­cal­ly mo­re ad­van­ced sys­tem - Win­dows and its de­ve­lop­ment was ce­a­sed in 2000. At the ti­me of its grea­test fa­me, se­ve­ral thou­sand ga­mes de­sig­ned spe­ci­fi­cal­ly for com­pu­ters with this sys­tem we­re cre­a­ted.
